How to Consign Your Clothing (click to expand)

We ask that all clothing is:

  • Freshly washed, pressed and on a hanger.
  • You can bring your items in any time without an appointment.
  • We price them and you get 40% once they sell.
  • We are looking for items that are in the current season and no older than 5 years.
  • If you need hangers, you may stop at the store to get some from us or you can hang them at our preparation station.

Do you want to be more successful at getting your items into our store? Here are a few key things to think about while you are getting your items ready:

  • Is this item stained? People will wear stained items, but they wont buy them.
    NO STAINS ALLOWED!
  • Is this item clean?
  • When was it last washed?
  • How does it smell?
  • Does it smell like cigarette smoke?
  • Did you check under the arms, the back of the collar and the sleeves?
  • How long has this item been sitting in your closet, dresser,
    box or storage since you last washed it?
  • Did your cat or dog sit on this before you got here?

Our customers ask ALL of these questions before they buy.
ALL items NEED to be freshly washed before they come into this store!

  • How long ago did you buy it?
  • Is this item in style?
  • If you bought it 10 years ago,,, sorry, we don’t want it.
  • If you bought it 5 years ago, we might want it.
  • If you bought it last year or even this year, we probably want it!
  • Is this item pressed?
  • With some things all you have to do is take them directly out of the dryer and either hang them or lay them flat.
  • With items like button down cotton shirts or and khaki pants - they need to be ironed to look sharp.
  • We will NOT put wrinkled clothing in our store!
  • Is this item in the right season?

October - December: We accept Winter items

We do not accept any items brought in from K-Mart, Walmart, or Payless shoes

Terms & Conditions for Consigning Furniture

~Condition of Items~

Clean & in Good Repair - Good to Excellent Overall Condition - Smoke-Free Environment - Currently Acceptable Styles and Designs - Sellable Colors and Dimensions.
Remember, your piece will sell for what it is worth at the time of consignment.  Tightening up a few bolts or touching-up with a bit of paint can really make a difference in pricing.  We have built up a certain standard over the years for only taking the best.  We plan to uphold our high standards for the furniture as well.

~Evaluation~ 

  • If you have something that you would like to consign, please bring it in for evaluation and consideration.  No Appointment is necessary.
  • If you aren’t sure if we will accept your item, you may bring in or email a picture to akdame@alaska.net
  • If you do not have a way to bring your items in we recommend Wolverine Couriers at 723-0745
  • If your items do not sell within the 4 months consigned you have 2 options: leave it to the ownership of the store and we will donate it for you or pick up your items.
  • We are pricing based on past selling experience.  Please keep in mind that we are in the business to SELL your items, not have them sit in our store for 4 months.  We will mark it down regularly or have sales to move the merchandise.

~Commission Structure~

  • For items we price at $200.00 and more your commission is 50% of the final selling price.
  • The consignment period for furniture is 4 months.
  • Once an item has sold, any money due to a consignor is immediately available.

~What kind of items are we accepting~

We will accept most items for the home.  Except:

  • We do not accept electronics, or appliances.
  • We do not accept State surplus office items (metal desks, metal file cabinets)

How to consign your art (for art valued at $200.00 or more)

Bring in your art and we will price it with your help and the help of internet research. 

  1. You consign your art for 12 months.
  2. Your share is 50% of the sale price.
  3. We will mark down the item 25% off after it has been here for 6 months.
  4. We do have sales that can be 25% to 35% off.
